Food and Health Courses for Families
This is a Healthy Lifestyle Service programme of courses that work with parents and carers to improve the diet of children and young people up to the age of 17 years old.
Who is this service for?
Our service targets families in the areas of the highest health need who are either registered with a GP, or who live or work within Bath and North East Somerset.
Cook It is a course for the whole family and is open to parents/carers/grandparents with children under the age of 18, which includes pregnant women & their partners.
HENRY (Health Exercise Nutrition for the Really Young) is for parents/carers/grandparents of children under the age of 5, which also includes pregnant women and their partners.
LEAP is a free programme for families of children and young people who are above a healthy weight * (* referral criteria apply)
How does this service work / what’s involved in this service?
Cook It Offering group based cooking sessions for parents and children. These sessions usually run in schools and community venues after school or in the holidays.
HENRY – Health Exercise Nutrition for the Really Young
A 9 week course for parents/carers of babies and young children. It enables them to establish a healthy lifestyle for the whole family, and to meet the emotional needs of babies and young children. All parents who attend this course are invited to join a Cook it Course on completion.
LEAP – Group sessions for children aged 5-10 years (with family) or 1-1 support for those aged 10-17.
For parents who need child care, we may be able to provide children’s groups. Our courses are run at Children’s Centres and community venues at different times of the day.
