Lymphoedema Service
Welcome to the B&NES Lymphoedema Service
The Lymphoedema nurse-led community service provides assessment, treatment, and advice for people living within the Bath and North East Somerset area who are registered with a BANES GP.
HCRG Care Group provides this service on behalf of the BANES commissioning group (CCG) to support people with Lymphoedema to manage to live as independently as possible with a chronic health condition. We maintain close working links with the Royal United Hospital and Dorothy House Lymphoedema services to ensure the needs of the local BANES community is met.
More about us
Patients are referred via a Health Care Professional e.g. GP, Community Matron, Community District Nurse. A health and medication summary and relevant investigations e.g. Doppler or blood tests and any previously known Lymphoedema treatment is required prior to initial assessment.
At the first visit, which may take up to 60-90 minutes, the assessment will include measurement of limb swelling and compression therapy using specialist bandaging or garments may be recommended. Additional treatments may include lymphatic drainage, skincare and exercise.
The service provides outpatient clinics 9 am-5 pm at Paulton Hospital on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays located in Keynsham Health Centre and Riverside clinic in central Bath. We offer home visits for people who are unable to attend the clinic due to health restrictions.
“Such caring and efficient medical staff at all times.”
