Sexual Health
School Nurses offer appointments and drop ins within Secondary Schools across Bath and North East Somerset for young people. As part of this, the School Nurse can offer confidential and non-judgmental support and advice for Sexual Health which includes – healthy relationships and consent, choices and delaying sex, chlamydia testing, condom distribution and pregnancy testing, LGBTQ support, contraception/ emergency contraception and sexually transmitted infections advice and signposting.
Sexual health and contraception services are free and confidential, including for those under the age of 16.
School Nurses work under strict guidelines when dealing with young people, and safeguarding is their top priority. School Nurses carefully assess the young person using ‘Fraser guidelines’ to ensure they fully understand the information given and the decisions they’re making. For more information on this please visit NSPCC or NHS
Young people can access sexual health advice and support by using a school nurse drop in or texting a school nurse and ask for an appointment. Speak to your school receptionist teacher for details of your schools drop clinic or the school nurse’s mobile number.
Young people can also use the Chat Health service for further advice or signposting.
